Topic: Abortion
Source: The Hill
Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) on Monday signed a bill lifting the restriction on abortion at or after 24 weeks, making the state’s abortion law one of the broadest in the country. “We’ve heard so many stories –– stories that are filled with a lot of pain and anguish and heartache and a lot of trauma,” Healey said at a press conference in her office at the Massachusetts Statehouse, surrounded by lawmakers and advocates. “We heard stories about the worst moments of a person’s life, of a couple’s life.”

Florida surrogate fights to keep custody of triplets
Topic: Children and Family
Source: The Post Millennial
...after Chinese 'dad' believed to be human trafficker can't get US visa to retrieve them. A Florida woman who carried triplets as a surrogate for a single man in China found herself in an international custody battle after the children’s father failed to arrive to collect them. Kyla Simpson gave birth to three boys in November 2024 for Ted Zhou, a single man from China who had arranged the surrogacy. Zhou did not arrive after the birth, later explaining that he was still trying to obtain a US visa. Simpson agreed to take the children home while Zhou sorted out a plan to retrieve the children. She began caring after the babies, including breastfeeding them. As time passed, however, Simpson began growing suspicious of Zhou. She noticed that he had not given any of the children his last name and that payments he had promised for their care arrived late and only after she demanded them.

Massachusetts Gov signs bill making abortions up to birth legal, Democrats CHEER
Topic: Abortion
Source: The Post Millennial
The bill, passed at the end of July, removed prior restrictions placed on abortions after 24 weeks of gestation that blocked abortions except in life-threatening circumstances. Healey said in a statement following the signing, “I've heard heartbreaking stories from women and families who were preparing to welcome a healthy baby into their family, only to receive devastating news later in their pregnancy. Instead of being able to rely on the doctors they knew and trusted at home, they were forced to travel hundreds of miles and pay out of their pockets while navigating unimaginable grief.”

Topic: Violence Against Women
Source: FOX News
DSA's Frances Gill said she wanted to avoid hypotheticals when pressed on what would happen to a rapist, police. A socialist leader squirmed during a tense Sunday interview after a local California television anchor pressed her on the real-life ramifications of the radical party's calls to abolish police and prisons. In an interview with NBC 4 Los Angeles, anchor Conan Nolan posed pointed questions to Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) National Political Committee Member Frances Gill on the topics of law enforcement, immigration and the movement's other far-left proposals. After a brief back-and-forth over what defunding the police means and how that would be applied in practice, Gill resorted to deflecting by refusing to engage in 'hypotheticals.'

Police Department in South Carolina Says It Has 'Zero Tolerance for Hate Speech'
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Reason
A free speech organization sent a letter to the police department last week, calling its anti–hate speech post unconstitutional. The Columbia Police Department (CPD) wants South Carolinians to know that it has zero tolerance for "hate speech," and that's a problem. Last week, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), a First Amendment organization, sent Columbia's police chief a letter after the CPD posted an image on Facebook with text that says, "WE HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR HATE SPEECH." The image, posted on June 25, also features a police officer holding a phone that says "BLOCK LIST LOADING." In the post's caption, the CPD wrote, "We have seen an increase in vulgar, racist, threatening, bullying, and disrespectful comments under reels and other posts."

Sky's DiJonai Carrington tries to clarify 'White Privilege' post
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Yahoo Sports
DiJonai Carrington is trying to clear up her "White Privilege" post on social media. The Chicago Sky guard was ejected after committing a hard foul on Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham on Saturday. Then, shortly after being thrown out of the loss in Chicago, Carrington took to social media. She posted "White Privilege" in all caps and tagged the Fever on Threads while the game was still going on. That post, as of Monday afternoon, is still up. But on Monday, ahead of her 26-point performance in the Sky's 97-88 loss to the Seattle Storm in Washington, Carrington addressed the post while responding to former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho. She insisted that she "never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege."

Trump Signs Order on Childhood Vaccines
Topic: Children and Family
Source: AP News
'This is so wrong,' Cassidy says after president calls for breaking up MMR vaccine.President Trump on Monday signed an executive order calling for revamped childhood vaccine recommendations that promote his long-held but discredited theory that childhood shots should be spaced out into separate medical visits. The order advocates separating the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three different shots administered in separate appointments, and directs the nation's health department to improve vaccine research, according to a White House fact sheet on the order. Separate measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines for children are not currently available in the United States, and vaccines are already extensively researched, the AP reports.

Letter on Jason Arday From Cambridge Vice Chancellor Is Objectively Funny
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Hot Air
Arday's autobiography drops today, completing the humiliation of our entire cultural elite. Cambridge University hired and labeled Arday the best scholar in his discipline in the world, the BBC and other media outlets spent enormous effort promoting him as a wunderkind who made Einstein look like a hack, and now Simon and Schuster, a storied publishing house, is actually releasing Arday's book, despite the fact that his book was so obviously a pack of lies long before it got near publication. The police even investigated journalists for questioning Arday's qualifications. Shut up or else!

Sex Between Teens Should Not Be A Child Abuse Issue
Topic: Porn, Prostitution, and Sexual Freedom
Source: Moon of Alabama
It seems obvious that this is a case of teenage stupidity which has nothing to do with child exploitation. Jt turns out that the ‘child’ in this ‘child abuse’ case wasn’t a child at all – that the sex two teens had in this case was consensual – and that the video thereof, which a length of only 43 seconds, was never publicized: Tyler Boebert is facing five felony charges for allegedly filming a 43-second video of himself and an underage female which local authorities have deemed to be child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to a copy of a criminal affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

The WNBA has a black entitlement problem
Topic: Violence Against Women
Source: The Washington Examiner
The politburo of the Women’s National Basketball Association continues to be mired in controversy after an excessively hard foul by Chicago Sky player Dijonai Carrington on the Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham during a game over the weekend. Carrington’s contact drew the ire of Cunningham supporters everywhere, as it was vicious (and arguably intentional). As malevolent as Carrington’s foul was, basketball history is rife with such fouls — including some committed by Cunningham herself. Nevertheless, the problem wasn’t Carrington’s foul; the problem was Carrington blaming white privilege for being held accountable for the foul. It’s indicative of the black entitlement problem corroding the WNBA.

“Niceness as Whiteness”
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Jonathan Turley
Professors Denounce Niceness as White Privilege. We have previously discussed how many professors seem to compete in finding new forms of racism in every facet of society and education. Astrophysics, math, runoffs, science, statistics, and meritocracy have all been denounced as racist. In this academic cottage industry, professors secure publications and speaking opportunities by identifying racism in the expressions, images, or entire fields. Even time itself has been declared racist. Now, however, academics have found another undiscovered continent of white privilege: niceness.

Democrats Shocked By The Cancel Culture They Built
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Sasha Stone
We'll hear it every time someone brings up Hasan Piker: "We have to get over cancel culture." I almost fell off my chair. Now they're noticing cancel culture? Now they want to end it just so they can snuggle up to one of the most vile people in the influencer lane because he has a lot of followers? Cancel culture is not over on the Left. I'm living proof as someone who was canceled and is still canceled. If they want it to be over, then let it be over - but it is most certainly not over. All of these monsters are still carrying pitchforks and screaming at the Right, calling them "racists" and "bigots" and "transphobes." None of that has gone away.

WNBA's Terrible, Horrible, No-Good Very-Bad Week
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Hot Air
WNBA is what the entire country would be like if run by white liberal women. Three major controversies intersect here: the anti-white/anti-heterosexual bias in the DEI-obsessed league; the alphabet ideology insistence that reserving women's sports for women is bigoted; and the tolerance for violence against Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham among league officials and even their own coach.

Monopoly Round-Up:
Topic: Children and Family

Author: by Matt Stoller
A Judge Condemns Facebook for Enabling Mass Sexual Exploitation of Kids. Big tech is in a lot of trouble, as the law, the financing, and the American people turn against them. Plus, Amazon's antitrust troubles, and a crack in the electric utility high billing scam. Before getting to the full round-up, I want to discuss some events this week in the courts that demonstrate the increasing vulnerability of big tech and AI firms. There are three separate ways the position of these firms is weakening. Their legal protections are fraying, their financial position is more fragile, and the politics for them are turning downright toxic.

Tactic Of AOC And Her Allies To Giggle Away 'Craziness' Of Woke-Era Abuses
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Glenn Greenwald
Should Not Be Tolerated. The so-called "Woke 1" period is not something to laugh off... Many Democratic Party candidates emerging on what one might call the populist left are finding success in primaries across the country. But most of them have a shared liability: they were fully on board with the worst excesses and abuses of the "peak wokeness" that emerged in the wake of George Floyd's 2020 killing, enduring and contaminating most of our institutions for several years after.

Texas Man Arrested After Ranting About Age Verification Laws Blocking His Anime
Topic: Political Correctness
Source: Reason
Did he make a true threat? Or was this just hyperbolic ranting about bad policy? "Unlock my fucking anime," a Texas man told authorities in an expletive-laden rant last month. He now faces criminal charges. The man called the office of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on July 25, apparently upset that he was being blocked from viewing anime of some sort. "I don't know which one of you sons of bitches passed this motherfucking bill to get this damn shit blocking my motherfucking anime, but you whole ass motherfuckers need to unpass this shit," he allegedly said in a voicemail, the transcript of which was provided to KXAN by the Texas Department of Public Safety. "Y'all are fucking ridiculous with your bitch asses. My Google account says I'm fucking over the age of 18, and your dumbass is passing these dumbass laws"
